The recent slowdown in car sales has forced the makers to bring out major discounts on their models. This move is aimed at lowering the prices of the models so as to attract more customers. However, another way to cut down on prices while going for car or choosing a car from a segment above without the price pinching your pockets is to opt for the base variants of the car you want to buy. Given the top models are the ones that are loaded with features, but there are some cars where the base models also offer great package for the price you pay. Therefore, today we have compiled a list of all such cars in the market where the base model is a good choice if you want to buy the car. This will help you jump up a segment when making the purchase or simply bring down the cost of your car by a large margin.

Maruti Suzuki WagonR

Highlights – Maruti WagonR was updated recently and the base variant of the car is priced at Rs. 4.19 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi. The base variant is not only safer thanks to the new BNVSAP norms but it also comes with body coloured bumpers and power windows on front doors, which is an uncommon thing in the segment. Apart from these features, the base model also comes with central locking, rear parking sensor, and gear shift indicator.

Ford Figo

Highlights -- Ford Figo was recently facelifted and the base model of the car is priced at Rs. 5.23 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi. The base model comes with a 1.2L petrol engine rated to deliver 95 Bhp and 120 Nm with a mileage of 20.4 km/l. The base model of the car has driver and front passenger airbags, ABS + EBD, central locking, tilt adjustable steering and power windows for the front doors. Ford also gives a 5year/1 lakh kilometer warranty on the car, which is a segment first feature.

Honda Amaze

Highlights -- Honda Amaze saw a model replacement last year and the base version of the car is priced at Rs. 5.86 lakhs, ex-showroom Delhi. The base model of Amaze comes with a 1.2L petrol engine rated to deliver 89 Bhp and 110 Nm and a mileage of 19.5 km/l. Apart from the regular 2 airbags and ABS + EBD, the car also comes with power windows all over and the Japanese maker also offer a 3 year/unlimited km warranty on the Amaze.

Mahindra XUV300

Highlights – Mahindra launched the XUV300 a few months ago and the base model of the car is priced at Rs. 7.9 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi. The base model of the car comes with a 1.2L petrol engine rated to deliver 110 Bhp and 200 Nm with a mileage of 17 km/l. The new SUV from Mahindra comes with 16-inch steel rims, multi-mode steering, gear shift indicator, powered tailgate release, integrated monochrome infotainment system with 4 speakers, power windows for all four doors, electrically adjustable ORVMs, ABS and EBD, twin airbags, central locking, and front seat armrest among others.

Toyota Yaris

Highlights -- Toyota launched the Yaris last year, but the car has not performed as per the brand’s wishes. Therefore, the base model of the car is being sold with discounts of Rs. 1 lakh, making it a very good deal. The base model of the car is priced at Rs. 9.29 lakhs and comes with features such as 7 airbags (segment first), ABS + EBD, remote central locking, tilt adjustable steering, height adjustable driver’s seat (manual), cooled glove box,  power windows on all four doors, electrically adjustable ORVMs, Body coloured door handles and ORVMs, projector headlamps, factory fitted double din audio system and armrests for both front and rear seats.

Hyundai Creta

Highlights -- Hyundai Creta is a very famous car in the market and is also due to be updated next year and the base model of Creta is priced at Rs. 9.99 lakhs. The base model comes with a power rating of 122 Bhp while the mileage is rated at 15.29 kmpl. As far as features are concerned, the base variant of Creta comes with dual front airbags, ABS and EBD, remote locking, rear AC vents, tilt steering adjust, height adjustable driver’s seat (manual), body coloured door handles, power windows on all four doors and electrically adjustable ORVMs among others.

Tata Harrier

Highlights – Tata launched the Harrier in the first quarter of 2019 and the base model of the SUV is priced at Rs. 12.69 lakhs. The base model comes with a 2L diesel engine and the SUV itself has a very futuristic design that makes its road presence very good. On the features front, the base model comes with dual front airbags, ABS and EBD, rake and reach adjustable steering, rear AC vents, power windows all over, height adjustable driver’s seat (manual), electrically adjustable ORVMs, projector headlamps and DRLs.
