Lexus has launched the LS 500h Nishijin variant in India at a price tag of Rs 2.22 crore (ex-showroom), New Delhi. It complements the existing Lexus LS500 h which is available at a price point of Rs 1.91 crore (ex-showroom), New Delhi. The first LS model debuted back in 1989 and quickly built the foundation for Lexus success globally due to the stunning design and feature-loaded interior. It arrived in the Indian market in 2018 and earned praise for its coupe-style silhouette. A flagship sedan, it retails in more than 90 countries which is an illustration of LS ever-growing popularity.

The new LS500h variant comes in a completely new colour scheme named “Gin-ei Luster”. It is a new silver paint colour which brightens up in the presence of light. Additionally, the bumper gets a makeover to lend a stunning appearance to the model. As the name suggests, the interior is influenced by traditional Japanese crafts. The cabin's orientation of “Nishijin & Haku” is inspired by the ‘path of moonlight on the sea’. For the uninitiated, the term refers to a mysterious natural phenomenon visible for a short period of days, before, after, and during a full moon. Lexus has uplifted the design to an exquisite level by employing thin Haku’ platinum metal foil in the ornamentation. This gives the buyers a highly comfortable as well as an enriching riding experience. Other major updates in the LS500 h are a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, improved steering wheel controls plus a revamped centre console.

Lexus LS 500h Nishijin variant is powered by a hybrid 3.4-litre 8GR FXS V type engine. The powertrain delivers a power output of 354 bhp with 350 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duty is taken care of by a Multi-Stage Hybrid unit.

“Following the positive response of the LS 500h in India, we are delighted to unveil the new Nishijin variant and improvements to the flagship model. These upgrades keep in line with the sophistication and craftsmanship of the Lexus LS 500h flagship luxury model and will deliver optimum performance with cutting-edge technologies while keeping in mind the environmental benefits and the sought-after comfort of our guests. We are excited to see the response to this new and luxurious variant in the Indian market”, commented P.B. Venugopal, President of Lexus India at the time of the introduction.
