Petrol and diesel variants come with the same features, equipment and design elements as before.

Land Rover Defender arrived in the Indian market back in October 2020. At the time of the launch, only a 2.0-litre petrol engine option was available. Now, the iconic British manufacturer has added a diesel engine to the Defender range in India. Both 90 (three-door) and the 110 (five-door) variants will come with a diesel engine apart from the existing petrol powertrain. Land Rover Defender diesel 90 range price starts from Rs 94.36 Lakhs (ex-showroom, India) while the 110 lineup has been priced in the bracket of Rs 97.03 lakhs to Rs 1.08 crore (ex-showroom, India). There is a huge price difference between petrol and diesel models in the region of Rs 10.46-14.46 lakhs.

As expected, the Defender diesel variants remain the same as the petrol-powered ones. All models retail with the same features, equipment and design elements as before. Buyers can look forward to LED headlamps & tail lamps, LED DRLs, powered ORVMs and rain-sensing wipers amongst others. Also, the Defender 110 comes with a 5+2 seating configuration with an optional front row centre seat. Further, the boot space is 231 litres which can be increased to massive 2380 litres by folding the second-row seats.

In the interior, the cabin boasts of a 10-inch Pivi Pro infotainment system with support for Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, three-zone climate control, 12.3-inch high-definition Interactive Driver Display & heated and cooled front seats. Other advanced technological features are Electronic Air Suspension, Terrain Response & Terrain Response 2, ClearSight Rear Mirror and 3D Surround Camera system. There is an optional Meridian Surround Sound System (700 W) on offer, it includes 14 speakers and a dual-channel subwoofer.

Land Rover Defender diesel is powered by a 3.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged unit. The SUV belts out 298bhp of maximum power output at 4000rpm and 650Nm of peak torque between 1500 - 2500rpm. The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. According to the British brand, the Defender 90 diesel variant can go from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.7 seconds. On the other hand, the Defender 110 diesel variants accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 7 seconds. Both the Defender 90 and 110 diesel models top speed is electronically limited to 191 kmph.
