KTM has been working on its product plans for the future lately. Talking about its upcoming projects, the Austrian bike maker has announced that it is going to introduce a new range of 490cc bikes. A recent representation from Pierre Mobility (KTM’s Parent Group) depicts that the new 490 range of bikes will make their debut in 2022. A total of five models will be introduced. These will include the Duke 490 Street bike, 490 Adventure, and RC 490 Sport bike. Besides these, there will also be an enduro bike and a supermoto bike that might not be offered in India. KTM will also be updating the RC Series, Duke 390, 250, and 125.
The platform that the new 490 range of bikes will use might be modular. This could further act as a base for the track-focused supersport and an off-road ADV. This newly developed platform is likely to house the new engine in a more flexible manner. Performances-wise, KTM’s 390 range of bikes use a single-cylinder engine. However, the new 490 series will utilize the parallel-twin configuration.
Besides these, Bajaj Auto (KTM India’s parent company) has already started the construction of its new factory in Pune. This new factory will be dedicated to its premium range of motorcycles that includes KTM, Husqvarna, and Triumph. We can expect it to be operational by 2023.
