Kia Sonet crosses 6500 plus bookings in one day; will be offered with both petrol & diesel engine options.

After Seltos and Carnival, Kia Motors India will be launching its third offering the Sonet on the 18th of September 2020. The company has already commenced bookings of the subcompact SUV a few days back at a token amount of Rs 25,000. Surprisingly, Kia Sonet set a new milestone of bagging 6500 plus bookings on the first day itself. Furthermore, the Korean automaker has also resumed the second shift at its plant in order to smoothly cater to the increasing demand of Kia cars in the Indian market.

Kia Sonet will be offered in two variants - Tech Line and GT Line. The Tech Line will be available in 5 trims namely HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX & HTX+. While the GT Line will be offered as a single fully loaded trim GTX+. In terms of design, the Sonet gets the signature tiger-nose grille with a three-dimensional geometric grille mesh upfront. In addition, there will also be LED headlamps integrated with LED DRLs. At the rear, the SUV will feature full LED tail-lamps, a rear diffuser, and dual exhaust pipes. There is also a Kia badge that is mounted on the sculpted tailgate. The SUV will ride on 16-inch alloy wheels along with muscular-looking wheel arches with black cladding.


Kia Motors have equipped the Sonet with a plethora of interior features. The SUV gets the largest 10.25-inch HD touchscreen with navigation and live traffic. There will also a 4.2-inch digital instrument cluster. The SUV will also equipped with UVO technology. Other first-in-segment features will include BOSE Premium seven-speaker audio with subwoofer, LED sound mood lighting, multi-function steering wheel, OTA map updates, multi-drive & traction modes along with grip control, and wireless smartphone charger with cooling function. 


Under the bonnet, Kia Sonet will be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol variant will draw power from a 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated engine that is linked to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Another one in the package would includes a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine mated to a 6-speed iMT gearbox along with 7-speed DCT gearbox as an option. While the diesel variant will draw power from a 1.5-litre unit that will be linked to a 6-speed manual gearbox along with 6-speed automatic gearbox as an option.
