Kia Sonet to offer better fuel efficiency than Hyundai Venue

Kia Motors India has been creating a lot of buzz regarding the launch of the Sonet in the Indian market. The subcompact SUV is the 3rd product offering  by the company for its customers. Furthermore, the company recently opened bookings for the SUV at a token amount of Rs 25,000. According to the Korean automaker, it did manage to set a new record by bagging over 6,500 bookings on the first day itself. A few days back the brochure of the Sonet was leaked online thus giving us information about the variants, features, and specification of the upcoming SUV. And now the fuel efficiency and the acceleration details of the All-New Kia Sonet have also been leaked online. 

The upcoming Kia Sonet will be offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol variants will draw power from a 1.2-litre engine linked to a 5-speed manual gearbox. This particular powertrain will generate 82 bhp power and 114 Nm torque along with delivering an ARAI claimed mileage of 18.4 kmpl. It will have a 0-100 kmph acceleration time of 13.3 seconds. For this same powertrain option, the Hyundai Venue delivers a fuel efficiency figure of 17.52 kmpl. 

Adding on, the 1.0-litre turbo petrol variant will be offered with a 6-speed iMT and 7-speed DCT transmission options. It will churn out a maximum power output of 118 bhp with 172 Nm peak torque. Mated to 6-speed iMT gearbox, the SUV will offer a mileage of 18.2 kmpl (ARAI Certified) along with a 0-100 kmph acceleration figure of 12.3 seconds. Talking about the variant with 7-speed DCT transmission, there will be a slight increase in the mileage. An ARAI claimed mileage figure of 18.3 kmpl will be offered along with 0-100 kmph acceleration in just 11.3 seconds. When compared, the Hyundai Venue does not get an iMT transmission however with reference to the DCT variant it offers an ARAI claimed fuel efficiency figure of 18.15 kmpl.

While Kia Sonet diesel variant will get a 1.5-litre engine along with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission. The engine here will generate 100 bhp power and 240 Nm torque. The upcoming Sonet with the 6-speed manual gearbox will deliver a mileage of 24.1 kmpl (ARAI Certified). Its 0-100 kmph acceleration time would be around 12.3 seconds. While Sonet with 6-speed automatic transmission will provide an ARAI claimed efficiency figure of 19.0 kmpl along with 0-100 kmph acceleration within 11.8 seconds. Talking about the diesel variant of Hyundai Venue then it only comes with a manual transmission and delivers 23.4 kmpl ARAI claimed mileage.
