Kia Seltos Launched in India at Rs. 9.69 Lakhs

While the South Korean carmaker had already unveiled their first vehicle in the Indian market, the company finally launched the Seltos SUV in the Indian market today. The price for the very first vehicle of the company in the Indian market starts at Rs. 9.69 lakhs, ex-showroom for base variant and goes all the way up to Rs. 15.99 lakh for the range topper. Kia has taken a very aggressive pricing strategy here and has launched the Seltos SUV at a price point that is lower than its sister company Hyundai's Creta SUV. Kia Seltos will lock horns with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, Tata Harrier, and MG Hector with the latter two being from a segment above. Here is a variant wise price list of the Kia Seltos in Indian market. 

Talking of the variants that Kia Seltos is available in, the South Korean maker has launched the SUV in a whopping 16 variants and hence had made sure that every kind of customer takes a look at the SUV at least one. These 16 variants of the SUV will be available in a total of 8 trim levels which are – HTE, HTK, HTK+, HTX, HTX+, GTK, GTX, and GTX+. The GT Line variants (GTK, GTX, GTX+) will come with 1.4L turbo petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel engine. Whereas, the HT Line variants will come with 1.5L petrol and the 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine options.

The SUV will come in a total of 13 shades wherein 8 shades will be unicolor and the remaining 5 will be dual tone options. While the unicolor shades will be available with all the variants of the SUV, the dual tone options will only be offered with HTX, GTK and GTX variants. The alloy wheel options will also depend on the variant one chooses as the 17-inch crystal cut alloy wheels, 17-inch hyper metallic alloy wheels, 16-inch hyper metallic alloy wheels, and the 16-inch steel wheels are all available with different variants.

As was already clear when the SUV was presented in front of the public, not just the looks but the interior is also where the Seltos SUV will give a tough time to its rivals in the market. The HT Line of Seltos will come with honeycomb pattern leatherette seats and the GT models will get a tube pattern sports leatherette seats. The fit and finish levels of the interiors of the SUV are also quite good. Also, the GT line variants will have a sportier theme while the HT Line theme will be sober and luxury-oriented.

Talking of the features on offer on the Kia Seltos, the SUV comes with several segment firsts including a BOSE audio system with 8 speakers, 8 hue ambient lighting, 8-inch HUD, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, UVO smart connect, and smart air purifier. Other features of the car include reclining rear seats, four-wheel disc brakes, blind-spot monitor, electric sunroof, power-adjustable driver seat with ventilation, leather interiors, and a 360-degree camera among others. Just like the BlueLink system seen on the Hyundai Venue, Kia's proprietary UVO smart connectivity comes with 37 smart features which include remote engine and AC start, checking tyre pressure, service period status, vehicle tracking, and geo-fencing among others.

Coming to the engine and transmission offerings of the SUV, the first petrol unit will be a 1.5L naturally aspirated unit rated to deliver 113 Bhp and 138 Nm. The next option in the petrol line-up will be a 1.4L turbo petrol unit rated to deliver 138 Bhp and 242 Nm. Moving on to the diesel option, the diesel unit will be a 1.5L turbo unit rated to deliver 113 Bhp and 250 Nm.

Among the automatic options, the first automatic gearbox option that will be offered with the 1.5L petrol unit will be CVT automatic unit. The second option will be a 7-speed twin clutch automatic gearbox that will be offered with the 1.4L turbo petrol model. Lastly, the third automatic option will be a 6 speed torque converter automatic unit that will be offered with the diesel engine. The manual gearbox will be standard on all trims. All the petrol and diesel engine options will also be BS-VI compliant.

The bookings for the car are already underway and the company is offering 3 years and unlimited km warranty as standard with the SUV and this can be extended to 5 years at extra cost. Along with the 3 year warranty the company is also offering a 3 year RSA package as standard. The deliveries for the SUV have already begun.
