Kia Seltos SUV’s Engine and Features To Give Rivals Run for Money in Segment

Kia has already unveiled the Seltos SUV for the Indian market and the launch is expected to take place soon. the brand has released the details of the engines that will be offered on the Kia Seltos SUV. A total of 3 engine options will be available with the Kia Seltos, one out of which will be a diesel option and the rest two will be petrol units. Among the two petrol options one will be the GT Line variant of the SUV that will come with the 1.4L turbocharged petrol engine. This will be the high end performance version of the SUV, something that the segment will witness for the first time. The other two options will be 1.5L petrol and turbo diesel units.

Kia Seltos will also come with 3 drive modes (Normal, Eco and Sport) and even terrain modes (Wet, Mud and Sand), these can be chosen based on the terrain of drive. Upon launch later this year, the Seltos will be placed in the compact SUV segment and will lock horns with SUVs like the Tata Harrier and Mahindra XUV500 in the Indian market. The high end models of the Seltos SUV will also lock horns with some variants of Jeep Compass in India.

Lets’ take a look at the engine details of the upcoming Kia Seltos. Talking of the petrol units first, one option will be a 1.5L naturally aspirated unit rated to deliver 113 Bhp and 138 Nm. This is entry level options by the brand and although this is not the most powerful option in the market, the output of the engine is very comparable to other similar options in the segment. The next option in the petrol line-up will be a 1.4L turbo petrol unit rated to deliver 138 Bhp and 242 Nm, this will be available only with the T-GDI variant of the Seltos and will also be the most powerful engine of the entire line-up. Not just the Seltos line-up but this is also one among the most powerful petrol engines offered in the expected price segment that will witness the launch of Kia Seltos.

Moving on to the diesel option, the diesel unit will be a 1.5L turbo unit rated to deliver 113 Bhp and 250 Nm. The diesel engine on the Seltos will also be quite powerful and will give the competitors a tough time in the market. All the engines including the turbo petrol unit will be 4 cylinder units and will comply with the upcoming BS-VI emission norms.

Kia Seltos will come loaded with a bevy of features that will give its rivals a tough time in the market. Among the most unique feature is the presence of a high-end Bose tuned speaker setup that is also paired with the ambient mood lighting of the cabin. There is also a large 10.25 inch infotainment system present in the cabin that comes with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Another unique feature of the Seltos will be presence of a Head-Up Display unit that will display vital information for the driver. Other features will include remote operation of the features of car by the virtue of the UVO system that will allow the car to be connected to the Internet at all times, something similar to the Bluelink technology seen on the Hyundai Venue. Talking of the safety features, the Kia Seltos will come with 6-airbags, ABS+EBD, VSC, ESC, TC, Hill Climb Assist, Brake Assist, and a 360 degree parking camera.
