Kia gives a mid-cycle facelift to Picanto according to leaked images; likely to get subtle design changes

According to the leaked images, the Kia Picanto Facelift has received a few changes on the exterior. The front fascia features revised headlamps with four LED DRLs surrounding the projector headlamp. It also gets Kia’s signature style ‘tiger-nose’ grille and a dual-tone front bumper with large vents on either side. The rear end of the hatchback also sports some subtle changes. It gets new LED taillights, a redesigned bumper, and chrome exhaust tips. Riding on dual-tone alloy wheels, the car also sports a shark fin antenna.

 


Not many details have been revealed about the mechanical updates yet. However, Kia is expected to carry forward the engines currently available on the hatchback in the international market. It is offered in three engine options. A 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 67 bhp power and 95 Nm torque and a 1.25-litre four-cylinder petrol unit that churns out 83 bhp power. It is also available with a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol that produces 99 bhp power. In terms of transmission options, the three-cylinder mills get a 5-speed manual only, while the four-cylinder engine features a 5-speed manual as standard along with a 4-speed automatic as optional.

Kia Picanto was showcased in the Auto Expo 2018. However, there is no official announcement from Kia regarding the launch of the car in the Indian market. Currently, the brand is focusing only on the SUVs and MPVs. The next big product expected to be launched in the Indian market is the Sonet SUV later this year.
