The bike is powered by a 40hp parallel-twin motor that’s shared with the Ninja 300.

Kawasaki has launched its baby adventure tourer, the Versys in India. The bike is priced at ₹4.6 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and will be assembled from CKD kits at the company’s new plant in Chakan.

Kawasaki calls this bike an ‘any road’ bike – it can handle a reasonable amount of off-road work but it’s not a proper hardcore off-road focused machine.

The bike’s cost is driven up by the accessories on offer, which includes auxiliary lights, engine guards, hand guards, a top box mount and a single pannier box. Thanks to the mandatory sari guard, the pannier on the other side cannot be mounted as standard fit.

It’s fitted with a generous 17-litre fuel tank, ground clearance is a usable 180mm, and its seat height is an approachable 815mm. The bike is powered by a 296cc parallel-twin (shared with the Ninja 300) that makes 40hp and 25.7Nm. ABS is offered as standard.
