Jeep has released a teaser of their upcoming off-road focused version of the Compass SUV -- the TrailHawk. Trailhawk will be the top of the line variant in the line-up and is likely to command a price of around Rs. 25 lakhs. This variant is already sold by the company in many global markets, and it will cater to the off-roading customer base in the market as it will come with a lot of changes when compared to the other variants of Compass SUV. The changes in the SUV will be centered at making this vehicle a better performer when it comes to off-roading. The upcoming model from the company is also expected to come with a diesel engine that will be paired to a 9 speed automatic gearbox. The diesel engine is question here will be the 2L Fiat Multijet turbo engine rated to deliver 170 Bhp and 350 Nm.
The company has already started manufacturing the Indian version of the SUV at their plant in Ranjangaon and the new variant will comes with an all-wheel drive layout. Apart from the AWD the Trailhawk will also come with a special Terrain Response system that will have two extra options to choose from -- Sand and Rock. The US maker will also make changes to the articulation of the SUV so as to make it a better performer when away from the road.
Other changes will include revision in the front and rear bumpers that will improve the approach and departure angles of the SUV. The feature list of the upcoming Trailhawk version will be similar to what is seen on the Limited Plus trim of the Compass SUV and the cabin is also likely to have subtle changes so as to distinguish the top of the line model from the other offerings in the Compass range. The features list may also see an increment or two. There will be Trailhawk badging on the exterior of the SUV and the most striking feature on the exterior will be the dual tone paint job with bumpers and bonnet getting a contrast finish.
The Compass Trailhawk will also come with increased ground clearance as compared to the other models in the Compass line-up. Other off-roading focused features on the upcoming SUV will include Jeep’s own Active Drive low 4x4 System that will feature the aforementioned different terrain modes for better off-roading. The air-intake for the engine of the car will also be tweaked so as to improve the water wading ability of the upcoming Trailhawk SUV. The Trailhwak version of Compass will also have a underside skid plates to prevent the underbody of the SUV from suffering any damage during off-roading sessions. Compass Trailhawk is expected to hit the markets in the coming months and the dealers will soon start taking deliveries of the upcoming SUV.
