Today, Jaguar Land Rover India announced that the all-electric SUV I-PACE bookings have begun for Indian buyers. The electric SUV will be launched next year with deliveries starting from March 2021. This is the second big EV announcement in the country following the launch of Mercedes-Benz EQC launch last month. India’s premium EV segment is hotting up with Jaguar's entry now and with rumours of Audi E-Tron soon entering the domestic market. The biggest selling point of the I-PACE is that it is fully electric and will come in 3 variants namely S, SE, and HSE. It will offer a lithium-ion battery pack which will come with 8 years or 1,60,000 kms warranty. Other complementary benefits currently being given by the British manufacturer include 5 years service package, 5 years Jaguar Roadside Assistance and a 7.4 kW AC wall-mounted charger.
Talking about the exterior design, the premium EV comes with advanced projector LED headlamps, sloping bonnet, honeycomb pattern grille, wide air dam and sleek tail lights. The top-end HSE variant gets matrix headlights instead of projector LED headlamps found in the SE trim. The SUV rides on a new set of 19-inch diamond cut alloy wheels. Moving to the premium cabin, it offers a 19-inch PiPo infotainment intuitive system with 12 speakers that support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto among many others.

As for performance, the Jaguar I-PACE SUV is powered by a 90 kWh lithium-ion battery that delivers 400 bhp of maximum power and 696 Nm of peak torque. It offers 3 driving modes- Urban, Motorway and 3rd being a combination of the first two modes. The SUV comes with an electric All Wheel Drive (AWD) system featuring twin independent motors, one each in the front and rear axles. The electric SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.8 seconds. The EV supports both AC and DC charging with the vehicle’s 11 kW 3-Phase onboard charger that converts the electricity to DC. If one uses the 100 KW rapid charger, the 90kWh lithium-ion battery takes 45 minutes to charge from 0 - 80 percent. Otherwise it will take around 10 hours to charge if one uses a 7kW AC wall box charger. Safety features onboard the SUV include 6 airbags, Dynamic Stability Control, ABS with EBD, Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Electronic Traction Control, two ISOFIX points among many others.
