The updated Skoda Kodiaq is expected to launch in Indian market around July-September 2021

The 2021 Skoda Kodiaq is all set to make its digital world premiere on April 13, 2021. Ahead of the official unveil event, the SUV has been teased for the one last time by the company on its various social media platforms. Being originally launched in 2016, it is on sale in more than 60 countries across the world, including India. The 7-seater SUV is expected to launch in Indian market around July-September 2021 while it will directly rival the likes of MG Gloster, Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra Alturas and Ford Endeavour.

The 2021 Skoda Kodiaq will come with several visual and technological advancements. It will be offered in three trims: Sportline, L&K and RS. The teaser image reflects the updates made to the SUV by Skoda's design team, headed by Oliver Stefani, Head of Skoda Design. The bonnet has been thoroughly redesigned which is being complimented by sleeker headlamps. The LED tail-lamps flaunt Skoda's signature C-shaped design with crystalline structures. As for features, the new SUV is expected to come loaded with a myriad of bells and whistles in the form of all-digital instrument cluster, massive touchscreen infotainment system with updated software, large panoramic sunroof and wireless charging.

Mehancially, the 2021 Skoda Kodiaq is believed to carry over the same petrol and diesel engines. The petrol engines on offer will be a 1.5L TSI and a 2.0L TSI while a 2.0L TDI unit will be the sole diesel engine available with the SUV. The transmission options could be a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DSG automatic unit. Skoda might well introduce a 4x4 drive system with the range-topping variants of the Kodiaq. Just so you all know, Skoda Kodiaq was discontinued in the Indian market post the implementation of BS6 emission norms in April 2020. The SUV was launched at an introductory price of Rs 34.49 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, India) in October 2017 in India. The BS6 compliant version is expected to be more expensive than the BS4 version by around Rs 2-3 Lakhs.
