Maruti Suzuki Ignis crosses 1 lakh units sales mark.

Maruti Suzuki Ignis is a very popular micro-SUV in India and has constantly brought in good sales for the brand ever since it was launched in January 2017. Now the largest carmaker of India has stated that it has sold more than 1 lakh units of the micro-SUV in the country. Maruti Suzuki Ignis is sold via the premium Nexa dealerships of the company and recently the company also brought a few updates to the car. Apart from the updates, the diesel version of the micro SUV was also discontinued in the market and now the brand only sells the petrol version of Ignis in India.

What is interesting is that the Ignis was the first car from the Indian maker to come with an AMT automatic gearbox, the same gearbox that the company calls the AGS – Auto Gear Shift. Despite the diesel variant of the car being discontinued, the Ignis remains a strong seller in the market and averages around 2,500 units in sales per month. In March 2019, the company sold 3,156 units of Ignis in India, this goes on to show the popularity of the car in the Indian market. Perhaps the unique looks along with the tallboy stance of the car is the reason why it is so famous in the market, more so with the young customers. The micro SUV inspired cross hatch looks along with the iconic LED DRLs and the large headlamps that merges into the grille gives the Ignis a distinct identity on the road. Not to mention that the SUV stance also gives the car a higher ground clearance, something that always appeals to the Indian customers.

As far as the mechanicals of the Maruti Suzuki Ignis are concerned, the car comes with only a petrol engine and that engine is the 1.2L 4-cylinder K-Series unit. The engine is rated to deliver 82 Bhp and 113 Nm in the Ignis and comes with the option of a 5 speed manual gearbox or the aforementioned 5 speed AMT automatic gearbox. On the safety front the Ignis comes with reverse parking assist system, co-driver seatbelt reminder, high-speed warning, dual front airbags, ABS+EBD as standard across the variants.

The prices for Ignis starts at Rs. 5.4 lakh for the base variant and the top model with AMT gearbox is priced at Rs. 7.14 lakh. Maruti Suzuki also offers a lot of customization options for the Ignis and these customizations can be made at the showroom itself.
