Hyundai is on a launch spree in the Indian market. The South Korean maker recently launched their sub-4 metre compact SUV in India and the Venue SUV has gone ahead and dethroned the Maruti Brezza from the top spot. Then came Hyundai Kona which went on to become the first all-electric SUV in Indian market and gathered a more than positive response from the customers in the country. Recently, the brand also launched the all-new generation of Grand i10 in India by the name of Grand i10 NIOS. The company is also planning on launching an Ertiga-rivalling MPV in the Indian market.
However, the MPV will be launched in India only around 2021, but among more near launches from the brand is the updated model of Xcent sub-4 metre compact sedan in India. Just like all other makers, the sub-4 metre tax relief gave Hyundai the incentive to hurriedly put together a compact sedan for India and it launched the Xcent in India. Hyundai Xcent locks horns with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Ford Aspire, Honda Amaze and Volkswagen Ameo in Indian market. Despite being significantly older than other rivals the Scent still remains a top seller in the segment. However, just like all other initial models of the segment, Xcent also looks like an afterthought and its design is hugely based on the Grand i10 hatchback.
Now with the model update the South Korean makers is looking at giving a fresh design to the Xcent sub-4 metre compact sedan. The sedan has already been spied testing multiple times in the Indian market and the spyshots have led us to believe that the upcoming model of the Xcent sedan will have an identity of its own and will come with a distinct design. The all-new Xcent will be designed from the grounds-up and will offer a better overall proportions. To add a sedan-like streamlined look, the height of the car is likely to go down. However, the front-end design will be heavily inspired by the Grand i10 NIOS, which follows the Hyundai’s latest design philosophy.
The engine options on the upcoming sedan from the company are expected to remain the same as the Grand i10 with an AMT box also making an appearance on the sedan this time around. The interiors of the upcoming Xcent will also be heavily loaded as has been on seen on almost all Hyundai cars so far. One can expect segment first features like wireless charging among others to make an appearance on the new model of sedan. The upcoming Hyundai Xcent will be showcased at the Auto Expo next year and it will also comply with the upcoming BS-VI emission norms.
