Hyundai Venue Diesel BS6 Power Output Revealed

Hyundai Venue has been updated with a BS6 compliant 1.5L diesel engine in the Indian market which is more powerful than the existing BS4 engine. Earlier, the sub-compact SUV was offered with a 1.4L CRDi motor which developed top power of 90bhp but now with the 1.5L engine, the power output has increased by 10bhp. Being borrowed from the Kia Seltos, the new BS 6 compliant 1.5L diesel engine delivers maximum power of 100bhp. Despite this power upgrade, Hyundai Venue is not as powerful as its foes like Mahindra XUV300 and Tata Nexon.

The 1.5L diesel engine, already at the helm of Kia Seltos, will also be available with the new-gen Hyundai Creta. But, there is a major difference between the engine offered with Venue and Creta. The South-Korean automaker has equipped the 1.5L motor with a variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) in the Seltos & Creta while with Venue, it will boast of fixed geometry turbo (FGT). The inclusion of FGT reflects clearly in the power output as it drops from 115bhp to 100bhp - a dip by 15bhp. The torque performance for the Venue is not known but it is expected to be the same as the 1.4L diesel engine at 220Nm. This engine will be presented with a new 6-speed manual transmission with the sub-compact SUV.

The word is that the upcoming 2020 Hyundai Verna facelift will also be launched with the 100bhp 1.5L 4-cylinder FGT diesel engine. Gradually, it will also make its way in the new-gen i20 which was supposed to debut at the Geneva Motor Show but later got cancelled due to Corono Virus outbreak. The Kia Sonet will also be offered with the same 1.5L FGT diesel powertrain. There is no info available on the mileage returned by this new engine but we expect it to be on the higher side. The BS 4 compliant Hyundai Venue had an ARAI Specified fuel economy of 23.70kmpl with the 1.4L engine. Hyundai Venue diesel BS 6 prices were already revealed last month when the bookings were opened for it.
