Hyundai India has announced the premiere of the i20N on August 24, 2021 in the country. It is the South-Korean automaker's first high-performance N model in the Indian market. We have learnt that Hyundai i20N will go on sale in the domestic market in September 2021. Earlier this week, a leaked document revealed that it will be introduced in three variants namely N6 iMT, N8 iMT and N8 DCT. Hyundai i20N price is expected to start from Rs 12 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom) while it will be locally developed at the Chennai facility.

Hyundai i20N Design and Features

Hyundai i20N will get cosmetic updates in order to lend it a unique identity and distinguish it from the regular hatchback. The front bumper will be redesigned while the grille will flaunt a ‘chequered flag’ pattern. It will ride on bigger alloy wheels with side skirts also being offered as a standard feature. The rear end will boast a restyled bumper and a pronounced rear diffuser. A special mention goes to the dual exhaust pipes and several other blacked out elements. Inside the cabin, Hyundai i20N will boast of N branding on the seats with contrast red stitching. Other notable features will include sporty front seats, bespoke steering wheel, metal pedals and leather gear knob with N badging.

Hyundai i20N Engine and Performance

The high-performance hatchback will be powered by a 1.0L 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which will belt out top power of 118 bhp and peak torque of 172 Nm. The transmission choices would be a 6-speed iMT and a 7-speed DCT automatic unit. This same powertrain setup also comes in the range-topping variant of the standard i20. However, it is believed that the company will make certain adjustments to the suspension setup and braking system. Moreover, it could well also tweak the exhaust note to make it appear even more sportier.
