After a series of leaks, reveals, and unveil, South Korean maker Hyundai has finally launched the Grand i10 NIOS hatchback in the Indian market. The NIOS is the generation update model of the Grand i10 hatch that will also be sold alongside the new NIOS in India. The prices for the Grand i10 NIOS start at Rs. 4.99 lakhs, ex-showroom India and go all the way up to Rs. 7.99 lakhs in the market. The latest Grand i10 NIOS will be sold by the company in a total of 10 variants wherein there are 3 diesel variants and 7 petrol powered variants. The latest hatch from the company will also be available in a total of 6 shades which includes 2 dual tone variants as well. The new Grand i10 NIOS hatchback will lock horns with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Ford Figo, Maruti Suzuki Ignis and the company's very own Grand i10.

The latest hatchback from the South Korean maker is based on the platform used in the newer version of Santro and it has been extended the form the underpinnings of the new larger hatch. The new platform will not only make the upcoming i10 NIOS bigger, it will also help the hatch shed a lot of weight. Talking of dimensions, the new version of i10 has grown 40mm in length, and 20mm in width, and the wheelbase has increased by 25mm. However, the height of the i10 NIOS remains the same as the older Grand i10. Apart from this, Hyundai is also offering a segment-first variable basic warranty plan that includes options such as 3 years/1 lakh km, 4 years/50,000 km and 5 years/40,000 km cover.

As far as the different variants of the Grand i10 NIOS are concerned, the petrol variant lineup will start with the Era variant which will come with a 5-speed manual gearbox only. Next up will be Magna and Sportz variants and the duo will get an AMT option but the Sportz Dual Tone variant will only get a manual box. Same will be the case with the top-end Asta variant as it will only get a manual box. Then the diesel variants will start with the Magna variant that will be offered with a manual gearbox only. Next up will be the Sportz variant which will be offered only with the AMT gearbox. The top-end variant here will be the Asta and as in the case of the petrol variants, here too it will come only with a manual box. Therefore, the Sportz variant will be the only choice for those who are looking for a diesel automatic variant.

Talking of the design of the Grand i10 NIOS, the new hatch comes with arrow shaped DRLs integrated in the front grille. The headlamps have been updated to be projector units and the same treatment has been given to the fog lamps, which is a segment first. The 15-inch diamond cut alloy wheels add a distinct look to the hatch and give it a sharp touch, so does the front grille sans chrome elements. The rear of the hatch now has NIOS lettering in the same style as seen on Venue SUV. Talking of the sides, the glass area of the hatch has now increased that will give the interiors a roomier feel.

As was expected, Hyundai has loaded the i10 NIOS with a lot of features. Some of these include, a new steering unit, rear AC vents and power port, auto climate control, rear-view camera, segment first 8-inch floating infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Other segment-first features include wireless charging, voice recognition function along with i-Blue smartphone app, and Arkamys premium sound system with 4 modes. Yet another segment-first feature is the 5.3-inch MID with a digital speedometer that provides information on instantaneous fuel consumption, trip meter, distance to empty, average fuel consumption, service reminder, and average vehicle speed. The safety features include dual front airbags, ABS+EBD, high-speed alert system, rear parking sensors and front seat belt reminder alert among others

The Grand i10 NIOS comes with a 1.2L petrol engine rated to deliver 81 Bhp and 114 Nm and this engine is BS-VI ready. On the other hand, the diesel engine is a 1.2L unit rated to deliver 74 Bhp and 190 Nm. Both the engine options come with the choice of either a 5 speed manual or a 5 speed AMT unit (as stated variant wise). Moreover, the diesel engine is a BS-VI compliant unit.
