The leading SUV manufacturer Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) rolled out two new variants of the Exter, its popular entry-level SUV, on September 6, 2024. Both new variants, i.e., S+ (AMT) and S(O)+ (MT) receive an electric sunroof as standard. In the Indian market, the Exter S+ (AMT) is being offered at an ex-showroom price of INR 8,43,900, while the S(O)+ (MT) is available at INR 7,86,300 (ex-showroom). The updated Exter was unveiled in the domestic market last year with five variants: S, SX(O), EX, SX, and SX(O) Connect.

The Korean carmaker is offering the Exter S+ (AMT) and S(O)+ MT with a host of design elements, including projector headlights, a sleek black mesh radiator grille, and a revamped H-shaped LED DRL. The new Hyundai Exter trims feature diamond-cut alloy wheels, and the sides are further highlighted by black panels. At the back, the Exter S+ (AMT) and S(O)+ MT variants come loaded with a sporty roof spoiler, rear wiper, shark-fin antenna, and H-shaped LED tail light design.

The Hyundai Exter S+ (AMT) and S(O)+ MT variants are packed with several advanced features inside the cabin. These include a digital instrument cluster followed by a colored TFT Multi-Information Display (MID), rear AC vents, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, LED DRLs, all power windows, floor mats, headlamp escort function, front and rear skid plates, and more.

Hyundai Exter S+ (AMT) and S(O)+ MT Safety Features
For safety, the Hyundai Exter receives features like Day & Night IRVM, 3-point seatbelts for all seats, 6 airbags, Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC), tyre pressure monitoring system, ABS with EBD, Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), burglar alarm, and impact-sensing auto door unlock.
Hyundai Exter S+ (AMT) and S(O)+ MT Powertrain
Under the bonnet, the new Exter variants draw power from a 1.2-litre Kappa 4-cylinder naturally aspirated (NA) petrol engine. The unit churns out a maximum power of 82 bhp at 6,000 rpm and 113.8 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm. It is mated to either a five-speed AMT or a five-speed MT. This powertrain is also available with CNG power that delivers an output of 68 bhp and a peak torque of 95 Nm. The CNG version is paired with a five-speed manual transmission.
