  • Hyundai Alcazar will rival Mahindra XUV500 & Tata Safari
  • It will be locally developed at Hyundai's Chennai factory

Hyundai India has revealed the official sketches of the Alcazar 7-seater SUV ahead of its global premiere in the country. Adorning Hyundai's 'Sensuous Sportiness' global design language, it will be unveiled on April 6, 2021 while going on sale in the next few weeks in the Indian market. We have learnt that Hyundai Alcazar will be offered in both 6-seater and 7-seater configurations while it challenges the likes of Mahindra XUV500, Tata Safari and MG Hector Plus in India. The SUV is expected to be priced in a range of Rs 12-18 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).

Underpinning a Wing-Surrounded architecture, Hyundai Alcazar will be longer than the Creta to accommodate the third row of seating. In fact, the wheelbase could also be extended to offer more legroom to the rear seat occupants. Design-wise, Hyundai Alcazar will be identical to the Creta, save for a couple of subtle updates. The cabin will boast of a dual-tone upholstery with several premium features such as automatic AC with rear vents, front & rear centre armrest with cupholders, sunroof, cruise control and a large touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto. As far as safety features are concerned, the SUV could come loaded with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, Vehicle Stability Control and ISOFIX child seat as standard.

Mechanically, Hyundai Alcazar will be powered by the same set of petrol and diesel engines as the Hyundai Creta. The petrol variants could draw power from a 1.4L turbocharged engine while the diesel ones will get a 1.5L turbocharged unit at the helm of affairs. The former will belt out top power of 138bhp and peak torque of 250Nm while the latter will generate maximum power output of 113bhp and highest torque performance of 250Nm. Both the engines will get a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. The petrol engine can also be availed with a 6-speed DCT automatic unit. On the other hand, the diesel variants will also be coupled with a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. It has been known that Hyundai might not offer the Creta's 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine with the Alcazar.
