  • Hyundai Alcazar made its global debut earlier this month.
  • The new SUV will be sold in both 6- and 7-seat configurations.
  • Hyundai Alcazar to rival the likes of Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus.
  • The seven-seater SUV is based on the same platform that underpins the Creta.

Hyundai Motor Company was all set to launch Alcazar on April 29, 2021. But due to the recent surge in the Covid-19 cases across the country, the automaker has postponed the launch. The prices for the seven-seater SUV will now be announced by late May 2021. The South Korean automaker unveiled the Alcazar earlier this month.

The SUV shares a number of key design elements with the new-gen Creta. However, it does get minor changes in order to make it look different from Creta. Upfront, the Alcazar gets a new grille design. In addition, it also features a redesigned bumper, new wraparound tail lights, faux dual exhaust tips, a rear quarter glass, and a new set of 18-inch alloy wheels.

The new Hyundai Alcazar will be offered in 6-seat and 7-seat configurations. The 6-seater variant will get captain seats in the middle row with a unique floor-mounted central armrest. While the 7-seater variant will offer a bench seat in the middle row. The three-row SUV will come equipped with a plethora of features. These include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system integrated with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, wireless charging, automatic climate control, among many others. Furthermore, the SUV comes with three driving modes - Eco, City, and Sport.

Performance-wise, the Alcazar gets the 1.5L diesel engine that has been carried over from the new-gen Creta. The unit develops the same 113 bhp power. It can further be availed of with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Besides this, the seven-seater SUV will also get a bigger 3rd Gen Nu 2.0L petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 156 bhp.
