Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India has given a price hike to its highest-selling motorcycle in India, the Honda Shine 125. After a price hike of Rs 1072, the drum brake variant is now offered at Rs 71,550 and the disc brake variant is retailed at Rs 76,346 (all prices, ex-showroom). Honda Shine was launched in its BS6 avatar in February last year.
The two-wheeler major is offering a cashback of Rs 3500 to customers who are SBI credit card holders and want to purchase the bike. This particular offer is applicable only if the interested customers opt for EMI scheme and it is valid till June 30, 2021. Moving on, Honda will also be extending warranty and free service benefits till July 31, 2021, in all its dealerships across the country. This extension is applicable to all Honda’s two-wheeler customer’s whose vehicle’s free service was originally meant to end between April 1, 2021 and May 31, 2021.
Apart from the price hike, no changes have been made on the bike. The motorcycle continues to offer halogen illumination, a combined braking system, analogue instrument cluster, a silent starter system, and an engine start-stop switch. Mechanically, the BS6 Shine is powered by a 125cc engine that churns out 10.72 bhp power at 7500rpm and 10.9 Nm peak torque at 6000rpm. The engine is linked to a 5-speed gearbox. As per Honda, the mileage of the bike has gone up by 14 percent in the BS6 format. Besides these, due to the addition of fuel-injection, throttle response has also improved. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic front forks and dual hydraulic type units at the rear.
