News Highlights

  • Honda NX200 will borrow several elements from Hornet 2.0
  • Honda had trademarked the 'NX200' moniker earlier this year
  • It will be positioned in the adventure bike segment

Honda 2-Wheelers India has announced the launch of NX200 on August 19, 2021 in the country. Being based on the Hornet 2.0, Honda NX200 will directly rival Hero Xpulse in the Indian market. The brand has sent out an official invite with the caption - “Explore Life with Every Ride”. Furthermore, Honda has also released a teaser video across its various social media channels which showcases a slight glimpse of the upcoming adventure motorcycle. Just so you know, the Japanese bikemaker had filed a trademark request for the 'NX200' moniker in April this year.

Going by the teaser video, one can clearly notice the LED headlamp unit, turn indicators with knuckle guards and a tall windscreen. The LED headlamp appears identical to the Hornet 2.0 while it is not expected to be a hardcore off-roader with elements such as wire-spoke wheels and adjustable suspension. Honda NX200 might ride on 19-inch or 17-inch wheels with a bit longer suspension setup. Needless to say, it will have a decent ground clearance. Other styling elements could include raised handlebars, tweaked footpegs and a luggage rack. Honda might equip it with an all-LED digital instrument console, as seen with the Hornet 2.0. The bike could also get a switchable dual-channel ABS but chances are higher that the company will offer a single-channel ABS.

Mechanically, Honda NX200 will be powered by the same engine as the Hornet 2.0 in India. The BS6 compliant 184.4cc single-cylinder air-cooled petrol engine will be at the helm of affairs with power output of 17 bhp at 8,500 rpm and torque delivery of 16.1 Nm at 6,000 rpm. The engine will be paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Honda NX200 price is expected to be at least Rs 10,000-15,000 higher than the Hornet 2.0 which is presently priced at Rs 1.31 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom). So, expect it to come at a price point of around Rs 1.45-1.50 Lakhs, which is significantly higher than its arch rival Hero XPulse as it is priced at Rs 1.21 Lakhs. On the contrary, it is going to be substantially cheaper than the KTM 250 Adventure which comes at Rs 2.30 Lakhs.
