Honda had discontinued the Jazz in India for some time in the past but later reintroduced it in the market and facelifted it in 2018 as well. Now the Japanese carmaker is all set to bring the 4th generation model of its Jazz premium hatchback in India. As we have already informed you, the new model of the car will be presented in front of the public at 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, which is scheduled to happen in October. As far as the India launch is concerned, it can take place some time in 2020.

The test mules that have been spied have already revealed that the updated model of Jazz will grow in size and will come with major changes. The new model of Jazz will be 35 mm long as compared to the current generation model in the Indian market and will stand 3,990 mm long. Apart from the length, the width of the car will also increase to keep it proportionate. The changes on the new Jazz will be both on the inside as well as the outside. The changes on the exterior of the car will include projector headlamps with LED DRLs, something similar to what we have seen on the Amaze sub compact sedan and City sedan sold in India.

The new Jazz will be the fourth generation model and is also known as the Fit in several international markets. The increased width will offer more room inside the hatch. The increase in length will also mean increase in boot space of the hatch.

Apart from the changes on exteriors and the dimensions the interiors will also be revamped. The changes on the inside of the car will include change in the interior work and new colors inside the car to keep it fresh. The steering wheel and touchscreen infotainment are also up for a major rejig or total replacement the new infotainment unit will also support Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. So far, the interiors of the Jazz have been a strong point for the car and the new model is only expected to take things ahead in the cabin department.

The engine details have not been revealed by the company so far. Earlier there were reports that the new version of Jazz hatchback will ditch the diesel engine altogether and may come with only petrol engine option in India. As the upcoming BS-VI norms will make the production of diesel cars a lot costlier as compared to the petrol models, it makes financial sense for the Japanese company to do away with the option of diesel altogether. However, this remains speculation for now as there is no solid news on this front. The Honda Jazz will also come to India in a hybrid avatar and there are hopes that the premium hatchback will come with the i-MMD dual-motor hybrid power system, something similar to what is seen on Accord and HR-V in global markets. Honda already offers the hybrid version of Jazz in international markets and the Japanese test cycle puts its mileage at 37 kmpl.
