Honda is all set to launch the BS6 diesel variant of Civic in July 2020; will get same engine specifications as its BS4 counterpart

Honda Cars India launched the 10th Generation Civic in its BS6 petrol form in 2019. The diesel variant was sold in the BS4 format. After its huge success, Honda is now all set to launch the BS6 diesel variant of the sedan in July 2020. The company has started accepting bookings of the BS6 diesel Civic. Interested customers can pre-book the car via Honda’s online sales platform “Honda from Home” or the company’s authorized dealerships across the country. The prices and variants have not been revealed yet. The BS6 petrol variant of Honda Civic is available in three variants. It is priced in the range of Rs 17.94 lakhs - Rs 21.25 lakhs (ex-showroom).


The Civic diesel variant will ride on 17-inch alloy wheels. The cabin of the new sedan will boasts of 8-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat. It will be equipped with a plethora of features. These include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system integrated with Apple Car Play and Andriod Auto, dual-zone climate control, automatic wipers, push-button start, a smart key for different functions, and a panoramic sunroof. As for safety, it would offer six airbags, ABS with EBD, lane-keeping assist, stability control, agile handling assist, hill start assist, an electronic parking brake with an auto-hold function, and a walk-away auto-lock.

Under the hood, the upcoming BS6 diesel variant of Civic will be powered by the same 1.6-litre i-DTEC turbo engine that was found in its BS4 counterpart. The engine will be linked to a 6-speed manual gearbox and will produce similar performance figures as its predecessors. In the BS4 state of tune, the engine churned out 118 bhp power and 300 Nm torque. While the petrol variant of BS6 Honda Civic draws its power from a 1.8-litre i-VTEC petrol engine that is linked to a CVT gearbox. The engine here produces 140 bhp of maximum power output with 174 Nm of peak torque.
