Honda Cars India is all set for the public premiere of the City Hybrid on April 14, 2022 in the country. However, ahead of the official unveiling, a few Honda dealers have started accepting bookings for the sedan. The booking amount is not fixed as dealers are charging as per their choice. It has been learnt that Honda City Hybrid will be based on the range-topping trim while priced around Rs 18 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom). The sedan is expected to go on sale in the month of May while debuting several first-in-segment features.
Honda City Hybrid will come with several visual updates over the regular model of the sedan in the form of black accents on several body parts like front grille, ORVMs and bumpers. The cabin will be offered in an all-black upholstery while equipped with Honda Sensing technology which boasts of multiple advanced features such as lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, auto high beam assist, emergency braking and a front collision warning system. The standard safety features expected on-board are dual front airbags, ABS, EBD etc. to name a few. The official bookings could start from the day of unveiling, i.e. April 14, 2022, at the company authorized dealerships.
Mechanically, Honda City Hybrid will be powered by a 1.5L 4-cylinder naturally aspirated Atkinson Cycle petrol engine which will generate maximum power of 97 bhp and peak torque of 127 Nm. Boasting of Honda's i-MMD hybrid technology, it will be paired with a couple of electric motors. One of the electric motors work as an integrated starter generator (ISG) while the other transmits the power to the front wheels enroute a fixed ratio gearbox. The electric motor makes top power of 108 bhp and highest torque of 253 Nm. The sedan could be offered with three driving modes: all-electric, running on both petrol engine & electric motor, and running only on the petrol engine.
