COVID-19 outbreak has been affecting India and the rest of the world since the start of the year. The Indian government is combating the Coronavirus Pandemic on a war-footing level. In the current crisis, the Indian government is getting help from the corporates in the form of finances or resources. Hero Moto Corp as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives is aiding the Indian Government in COVID-19 relief work. The company transformed two Xtreme 200R motorcycles into first-responder vehicles for emergency medical purposes. The modified Xtreme 200R will be used by the community Health Centres in Neemrana and Mundawar, in the Alwar district of Rajasthan.

The Hero Extreme 200R first-responder motorcycles are designed and developed through a collaboration between Hero’s Centre of Innovation and Technology (CIT) in Jaipur and the New Model Centre (NMC) at the Hero’s manufacturing facility in Gurgaon. The customized Hero Extreme 200R comes equipped with several modified features. The important addition is a full-fledged stretcher with a foldable hood mounted on the side. The modified Hero Extreme 200R is designed to handle emergency, the bike is equipped with a removable first-aid kit, oxygen cylinder and fire extinguisher. The first responder bike is loaded with essential safety features like foldable beacon light, LED flasher light, emergency wireless public announcement system and a siren.

The Indian two-wheeler giant handed over the two Xtreme 200R motorcycles to Manjeet Dharampal Choudhary, Member of the State Legislative Assembly of Rajasthan, Mundawar (Neemrana), Alwar. The bikes will help the health authorities in reaching out to the patients in the rural and remote areas. The transportation of the affected patients to the nearest health centres would become easier with the acquisition of these customized bikes. 

Hero Motocorp is exploring the feasibility of manufacturing first responder two-wheelers. This would help the stretched health departments in providing medical service to the citizens. The company had earlier donated 60 first-responder mobile ambulances based on the Hero Xtreme 200R motorbike to authorities across the country.
