  • The new bike to come with an engine capacity of around 350cc
  • Hero MotoCorp to mark its entry into the premium motorcycle segment
  • The upcoming bike from Hero to rival the likes of Honda H’Ness CB350

Hero MotoCorp is planning to develop a middle-weight bike under its own brand. As per a media report, a middle-weight bike will be sold with a Hero MotoCorp badge anytime soon. It is being speculated that the new bike will be powered by an engine with around 350cc capacity. This further indicates that it will rival the likes of Honda H’ness CB350 and bikes from the Royal Enfield stable.

At present, Hero MotoCorp only has 200cc motorcycles as its flagship products. It controls a share of more than 70 percent in the entry-level motorcycle segment with bikes- Splendor, HF Deluxe, and Passion Pro. The brand has never launched any entry-level premium motorcycles with engine capacity over 225cc until now. However, last year, Hero announced its partnership with Harley Davidson. As per the brand, this partnership will help accelerate its presence in the premium motorcycle segment. Currently, Hero MotoCorp is the official distributor of Harley Davidson bikes in the country.

“The key part of the Harley Davidson tie-up is the license to build the middle-weight segment, which is a very profitable segment, and the lead player has a market share of around 90 percent. So, there is this whole thing of developing the bike and putting it out in the market, both under the Harley and Hero name.” as commented by Niranjan Gupta, chief financial officer, Hero MotoCorp.

As of now there is no confirmation regarding the launch of the bikes under this partnership. But it is being said that the dedicated teams have already started working on the development of bikes.
