Hennessey has revealed its first in-house developed supercar named F5 Venom in the UK. The powerful supercar aims to break the road car speed record thanks to its sleek aerodynamic design. The new F5 Venom is markedly different from 2011 Venom GT as it is based on an in-house platform. The earlier Venom used a modified Lotus chassis for the body. The name behind the exciting supercar lies in the word given to the highest rating on the Fujita hurricane. Built on a carbon-fibre monocoque sourced from UK-based KS Composites, its kerb weight is 86 kgs.

F5 Venom Supercar uses a rear tubular aluminum subframe which houses a powerful 6.6-litre overhead-valve Fury V8 engine. The design is strikingly like the concept model with elements like butterfly doors and the interior comprising of leather upholstery alongside carbon fibre trim. A single carbon fibre piece with drilled air vents is used in the rear profile construction.

CEO John Hennessey in a conversation with an international publication spoke about the use of a pushrod engine. It was chosen because of compact dimensions and a lower center of gravity. Plus being an expert in fine-tuning engines, under his supervision they were able to extract much more power from the engine. As a result, the twin turbocharged V8 powertrain belts out 1817 bhp of maximum power output @8000 rpm and peak torque of 1644 Nm. CIMA 7-speed single-clutch automated unit and a limited-slip differential take care of transmission duties.

The manufacturer states that the high speed of the car is achieved due to the combination of an in-house developed engine. With a dry weight of 1368 kgs, the F5 Venom supercar can accelerate from 0-100 kmph in just 2.6 seconds. It comes with five selectable driving modes like Drag for acceleration and F5 for maximum speed. According to the brand, the supercar has a speed more than 500 kmph.

The first Venom will be produced in the United Kingdom with the rest of the units being assembled in Texas, USA. Most importantly, it is limited to just 24 cars with an estimated starting price of $2.1 million or Rs 15.44 crore in Indian currency. Half of the vehicles have already been booked by the customers.
