Bajaj Pulsar Sales

Although the past few months may have been a bit slow for the car makers, two-wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto Limited has posted good growth in sales figures for the last month of the financial year 2018-19. The Pune-based company went on to register a growth of 39 percent in domestic sales for March 2019. Apart from this extremely positive growth and news, the Indian bike maker has also stated that it has sold more than a hundred thousand units of famed Pulsar line-up of bikes for the very first time ever since it was first launched in the market.

This success for the brand could be a result of the updated versions of the models it has launched in the Indian market. The updates to the bikes have mostly been cosmetic, although the bikes have also been timely updated to follow the safety rules that came into force from April 1 2019. As of now the Pune-based maker offers six models with the Pulsar branding in India. These models consist of Pulsar 150 (also available in the 150 Twin Disc and 150 Neon variants), NS160, Pulsar 180, Pulsar 180F (faired version), Pulsar 220F, Pulsar NS200, Pulsar RS200.

Talking of the Pulsar 150, it is the entry level model of the Pulsar line-up as the brand had discontinued the Pulsar 135 LS last year. The reason behind discontinuing the 135 LS was that it would have been simply too expensive to equip it with an ABS unit due to the upcoming safety regulations. Next in line is that Bajaj Pulsar 180 model that has been recently updated to an 180F model as well. The new Pulsar 180F model comes with a semi-fairing on the front just like the Pulsar 220F, but at a cheaper price.

Talking of the Bajaj Pulsar 220F, it has been in the market since quite some time now. However, the bike still continues to attract customers due to the price point at which it is placed and the value of money package it is marketed as.

Talking about the more modern models of the Pulsar line-up, the NS 160 is a toned down version of the larger sibling NS200, and it also comes with similar styling. This brings us to the next model, the NS200, perhaps this has been the most popular model in the product line-up as it was brought back at the request of the bike’s fans. The street naked NS 200 locks horns with other rivals such as Apache RTR 200 in the market and bring in good volumes for the company. The highest priced model in the Pulsar line-up is the Pulsar RS200. This is also the only fully-faired bike that the Pune-based brand offers in the market.

Bajaj is currently working on full model replacement for the Pulsar line-up and we can expect a major rejig in the Pulsar model range once the BS-VI emission norms deadline approaches.
