Naked version of Gixxer 250 confirmed by Suzuki

After a series of leaks and news reports, Japanese maker Suzuki has finally launched the Gixxer 250 in India. It has been after a long interval that the company brought a 250cc bike in the Indian market. Gixxer 250 is a mid-level sports bike from the company and the price for the bike has been set at Rs. 1.70 lakhs ex-showroom, Delhi. At the launch event, the company confirmed the fact that the naked street version of the aforementioned bike is also under development. To let you know, Suzuki already sells the naked street version of the Gixxer SF (155cc) in the Indian market by the name of Gixxer. There are hopes that the naked version of the Gixxer 250 will be launched in the Indian market by the year’s end and will be priced lower than the Gixxer SF 250.

The removal of fairing from the bike will ensure that the bike will lose weight and will be more performance oriented than the fully faired version, even if only on a minor scale. The upcoming street fighter version of Gixxer 250 is expected to have a design sharper than the Gixxer 150 and it will also retain some design elements from the GIxxer SF 250, but not the fairing obviously.

The design elements that are expected to be carried over from the Gixxer SF 250 to the naked street version of the bike may include the tail lamp design as well. Other parts such as suspension and braking equipment are also expected to remain unchanged. However, one can expect the upcoming naked street bike to have a sharp headlamp with more LED elements to give it an aggressive look. The ergonomics on the upcoming naked Gixxer 250 will also see a suitable overhaul. The company may remove the clip-on handlebars and install a single piece unit and also raise the handle for a more commanding position on the road. Since the bike will be meant primarily for city usage, there are chances that the bike will also see a shift in the position of the foot pegs so as to give the rider a more relaxed stance during rides.

The mechanicals of the upcoming naked version of the bike are expected to remain the same. The upcoming naked Suzuki Gixxer is expected to come with the same 250 cc oil cooled, fuel injected SOHC engine rated to deliver 26.5 Hp @ 9000 rpm and 22.6 Nm @ 7500 rpm. Transmission duties are also expected to be handled by a 6-speed manual gearbox. Other features such as a dual channel ABS system, tubeless tyres and digital instrument cluster are also expected to be carried over to the naked version of the bike. Upon launch, the naked Gixxer 250 will take on the likes of KTM Duke 250 and the Yamaha Fazer 250 in the Indian market.
