South Korean carmaker Hyundai is planning to launch second-generation Grand i10 hatchback in August.

South Korean carmaker Hyundai has made an official announcement regarding the launch of second-generation Grand i10 hatchback. The new car will be launched in India on 20 August. The car will be the second big launch from the South Korean automaker in India this year after Venue. The new vehicle will be rival the likes of Maruti Swift and Ford Figo in B-Segment hatchback category. With the government all set to introduce new emission norms, the new Hyundai Grand i10 is likely to come with a pack in Bharat Stage 6-compliant petrol and diesel engines. These engines will be mated to a 5-speed AMT gearbox option. As is the case with other Hyundai cars, the company is expected to pack this car with many premium features at very competitive prices with the base model starting from Rs. 5 lakhs.

Talking about design, the 2020 Grand i10 will get a new cascading grille that is now a constant feature on most new Hyundai cars. Other changes at the front include sharper front headlamps, a revised bumper, and air dam. The new car will be slightly bigger on the side to offer more room to passengers. However, the hatchback will retain sub-4-meter size to avail tax benefits extended by the government.

Coming to interiors, the buyers will get a fresh new dashboard upfront. A touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will now dominate the dashboard. The car will also have a host of other features. Hyundai is expected to carry over rear AC vents on the updated model as well.

Although the new Hyundai Grand i10 will get new design elements and lots of creature comforts, the car manufacturer cannot afford to price it much more than the outgoing model. This can be attributed to major slowdown in car sales in India thanks to a weakening economy. An ultra-competitive price tag is the need of the hour if the South Korean carmaker has any hope of making the new Grand i10 as big a success as the outgoing version. To let you know, the outgoing Grand i10 has been one of the best-selling hatchbacks in the segment consistently selling over 10,000 units each month. The company will wish that the new model gets in similar numbers as Grand i10 is a car that appeals to a large section of buyers, both in private and commercial sectors.
