The 2021 Nissan X-Trail will be offered in both 5-seater and 7-seater configurations

Nissan has unveiled the fourth-gen X-Trail crossover at the Auto Shanghai 2021. Being the brand's flagship SUV, it will be offered in both 5-seater and 7-seater configurations. It will go on sale in the second half of 2021 in the Chinese market. As far as India is concerned, the 2021 Nissan X-Trail is unlikely to be launched here. Though, the second-gen model was on sale in India for a brief period before it was discontinued in 2014. The fourth-gen X-Trail design and interior takes inspiration from the US-spec Nissan Rogue.

The SUV underpins a modified version of the CMF-C architecture which is co-developed by all the three alliance partners - Renault, Nissan & Mitsubishi. This platform has also been used in the recently introduced Nissan Qashqai. Adorning the Japanese brand's 3.0 design language, the 2021 Nissan X-Trail flaunts split LED headlamps, trapezoidal front grille and a sporty bumper upfront. The sloping roofline and plastic cladding make the side profile of the crossover quite dynamic. As we go towards the rear end of the fourth-gen X-Trail, we find a wraparound LED tail lamp cluster and silver bash plate. The overall design of the crossover is fairly evolved as compared to its predecessor.

Inside the cabin, the 2021 Nissan X-Trail gets a floating touchscreen infotainment system and all-digital instrument cluster as standard. Some of the other notable features include wireless charging, ventilated front seats and connected car technology. The exact engine specs of the SUV are not known yet but it will feature Nissan's e-Power hybrid technology which is different from the traditional hybrid tech. In this new technology, the petrol engine is responsible for charging the batteries, from where power is delivered to the electric motor which is mounted at the front axle. The SUV is equipped with Nissan's 4×4 Intelligent AWD system alongside various driving modes.
