Ahead of launch, Ford Figo facelift starts arriving at showrooms.

With the official launch of Ford Figo’s facelift model slated for March 15, it is only natural that the company starts dispatching units to showrooms. The price of the car will be revealed by the company on the day of launch itself, the same day the deliveries will begin. Meanwhile the bookings for US giant’s hatch are underway.  The pricing trend of Freestyle and Aspire sedan hint at the fact that Figo’s facelift could severely undercut Maruti Swift.

The facelifted Figo gets styling revisions at the front and rear. The updated Figo has a grille reminiscent of the Aspire sedan, flanking the grille are new headlamps. The front and rear bumpers have been worked upon and sport sharp looks, whereas the rear lights have also been revised. The wheels too have been upgraded, and the Figo now has sporty looking 15-inch black alloy wheels, these wheels will be available on the top models only. A peek inside shows new fabric on seats and headrest on rear seats. A Titanium-Blue variant on the top model along with addition keyless entry, push button start, auto headlamps, rain sensing wipers and a floating type infotainment unit with Bluetooth and navigation will be other major changes.

With the upcoming norms on mind, Figo will also feature safety updates with 2 airbags on lower variants and 6 airbags on top variants, ABS, rear parking sensors, front seat belt reminders, and speed alert warning will be standard on all trims.

Talking of under the hood parts, the updated car will bring in 2 new petrol engines, a 1.2-litre Dragon 3-pot engine rated for 94 PS and 120 Nm, while the other is the updated 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine rated for 123 PS-150 Nm. While the former will come paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, the latter, more powerful engine will be offered only with a 6-speed torque converter transmission. As far as the diesel model is concerned, the 1.5-liter TDCI engine rated for 98.6 Bhp-215 Nm will continue to be offered here. This will be paired only to a 5-speed manual gearbox. There are rumors that Ford might bring in a sportier, agile S model of the updated Figo in the coming months.

As already stated in the article, the prices of the new model will be made available at the launch, the updated Figo will surely be positioned under Freestyle. With the Figo facelift slated to undercut rivals just like its siblings, a starting price of around Rs. 4.9 lakhs would be safe, keeping it lower than 5.43 lakhs of Freestyle and even lower than the segment leader Maruti Swift.
