The new Ford Aspire AT variant is expected to be launched in the coming months in India

Ford India recently launched the new Figo automatic with a six-speed torque converter. Now the company is gearing up to introduce the same gearbox on the Aspire anytime soon. This is being done mainly because the demand for automatic gearboxes is increasing in India with time.

Ford Aspire: Engine Specifications & Mileage

It is being speculated that Ford will be offering the petrol variant of the Aspire with the new 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. When we talk about the petrol engine, it is the same 1.2-litre unit that does duty on the Ford Figo. This engine churns out a maximum power of 95 bhp and a peak torque of 119 Nm. Ford was offering the automatic gearbox option with the 1.5-litre petrol version of Aspire before it was discontinued in the Indian market. Moving on, the brand will be offering the diesel variant of Aspire with a manual gearbox only. Besides Aspire, the 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo-diesel unit also powers Figo, Freestyle, and Ecosport. This particular engine generates a top power output of 99 bhp and a peak torque of 215 Nm.

The automatic variant of Ford Figo offers an ARAI certified fuel efficiency of 16 kmpl. We can expect a similar mileage figure for the Aspire AT as well. Much like Figo automatic, the Aspire AT variant might get a new Sport mode that offers faster gear shifts for more responsive driving.

Ford Aspire: Features & Design

Coming back to Ford Aspire, it comes equipped with a plethora of features. These include a 7-inch touchscreen unit with Bluetooth connectivity, embedded navigation, a rear-view camera, keyless entry, push-button start, among many others. In terms of design, the automatic trim compact sedan will receive no changes as such. It will continue to feature a blacked-out front grille, fog lamps, blacked-out roof, 15-inch alloy wheels, among many others.

Ford Aspire: Price & Rivals

Currently, Ford is offering the Ford Aspire sedan at a starting price of Rs 7.27 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Titanium variant. The price goes as high as Rs 7.62 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-end Titanium Plus variant. With the addition of an automatic gearbox, we can expect the price to increase by upto Rs 1 lakh. Once launched in the Indian market, the automatic variant of Ford Aspire will compete against the likes of Hyundai Aura, Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze, and Tata Tigor.
