BS6 Mahindra Alturas G4 SUV was launched earlier this year and comes with only a diesel engine

The Honourable President of India Ram Nath Kovind received the first unit of BS6 Mahindra Alturas G4. The Indian automaker delivered the SUV to the President with the Joint Secretary receiving on his behalf. The new BS6 car comes in a black colour scheme. We haven’t received any information if the delivered vehicle came with any specific customization. Earlier this year, Mahindra launched the BS6 compliant Alturas in the Indian market at an introductory price of Rs. 28.73 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) while the 4WD variant retails at Rs. 31.70 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The disclosure of the homegrown manufacturer delivering the new model to the Indian President was disclosed on Twitter and confirmed by VS Parthasarathy - President, Mobility Services, Mahindra Group who retweeted the tweet. 

The Indian President currently uses Mercedes Benz S Class (S600) Pullman Guard for official purposes. The President's office hasn’t revealed any information about vehicle deployment in the fleet. Chances are slim in regards to the vehicle being used as the official vehicle. Mahindra Alturas G4 is basically a rebadged SsangYong Rexton, it first arrived in the Indian market in 2018. The model is offered in two variants- Alturas G4 4X2 and G4 4X4 AT. 

BS6 Alturas G4 comes in 5 colour schemes - Napoli Black, Regal Blue, New Pearl White, Lake Side Brown and D Sat Silver. The BS6 model is quite similar to the older BS4 version. Talking about the interior, the car comes with dual-zone fully automatic temperature control, electric sunroof and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Plus, the SUV comes with plenty of safety features like 9 airbags, Electronic Stability Programme, ISOFIX seat mounts, seatbelt warning and Active Rollover Protection. 

The BS6 Mahindra Alturas G4 is powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine. The SUV churns out 178 bhp of maximum power output and 420 Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with a Mercedes Benz sourced seven-speed automatic torque converter gearbox.
