The road-legal one-off car is based on the 488 GTB and is called the SP38. Design inspiration comes from the F40 and 308 GTB and the changes have only been done to parts that do not need to be re-homologated to save time and cost. The customer who had this car specially made has worked with Ferrari on the car from the beginning, including collaborating on its design and their individual needs.

Luxury carmakers are increasingly being asked for bespoke operations and tailor-made products. This one-off car is identical to the 488 GTB under the skin, it uses the same twin-turbo 3.9-litre V8 that, most probably, makes the same 670hp and 760Nm. The SP38 is the latest in a line of one-off, customer-commissioned Ferraris.

The person who bought the SP38 wished to remain anonymous and chose for these images and snippets of information to be released through Ferrari. The SP38’s first public outing will be at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.
