Mahindra is all set to deliver 1000 units of All-New Thar in the country during this Diwali

Mahindra & Mahindra will be delivering 1000 units of second-generation Thar during the Diwali festive period across the country. The deliveries of the SUV will be based on the sequence of bookings received for the variants that are available. The company started the delivery process on November 1 by delivering Thar #1 to the online auction winner, Akash Minda. This was followed by delivering the first 500 units of Thar over the weekend of November 7-8. Now the company will be dispatching its second 1000 units of the SUV.

Since the launch of the Thar 2020, the company has received quite an overwhelming response. Also, the customers were given a waiting period of 5-7 months depending upon the variants selected. But now Mahindra is trying to push the production capacity to 3000 units per month against the planned 2000 units per month. The company is planning to ramp up the production at its Nashik facility and the supplier end latest by January with an aim to reduce the waiting period for the customers.

“We wish our customers a ‘Happy Thar-ing Diwali’ during this ongoing festive season. At Mahindra it is our endeavor to spread festive cheer to as many customers as we can.  Hence following the success of our earlier mega delivery of over 500 All-New Thars across the country, we are now delighted to take it a step further and deliver 1,000 All-New Thars to mark Diwali festivities,” said Veejay Nakra, CEO – Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd on this announcement.

Under the hood, the All-New Mahindra Thar is offered with both petrol and diesel engine options. There is a 2.0-litre mStallion petrol unit that churns out 150 bhp power and 350 Nm torque. While the 2.2-litre 4-cylinder CRDi diesel engine produces 130 bhp of power output with 320 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The base AX variant is offered only with the manual stick. However, the top-end LX variant gets both manual and automatic transmissions.
