The 2.0 Ingenium engine, which will replace the old 2.2-litre unit, will be manufactured at the new in-house developed power-plant. Two versions of the engine will be available - a 150hp derivative and the more powerful 180hp. The 150hp derivative will be offered in lower trims while the top trims will use the 180hp unit. The nine-speed automatic gearbox from the current model will be carried forward.
Apart from the engine upgrade, the more powerful diesel is also set to be offered on multiple trims and not stay limited to only the top variant. The Discovery Sport is expected to go on sale by April this year.
