The bike will come with a larger motor and technology upgrades.

BMW Motorrad will unveil the new R 1250 GS later this year. The bike will replace the R 1200 GS. The new bike will be powered by a 1,254cc boxer engine, replacing the existing 1,170cc powerplant. Power has gone up from 123.3hp to 134.1hp.

The updated engine will come with VVT (Variable Valve Timing) tech. The bike will get a new exhaust system that is expected to be quieter than the existing system, producing around 88dB. The chassis, cycle parts and most of the bodywork will be like the existing motorcycle.

The bike will be sold in two variants – standard and the GS Adventure. The motorcycle is likely to make its global debut at the 2018 INTERMOT or EICMA motorcycle show and will go on sale in India next year.
