Indian automobile market will have a new entrant in the form of Citroen. The French automaker was to officially commence operations last year but COVID-19 pandemic delayed it. Now, it will make its presence felt in the country with the Indian premiere of C5 Aircross. Citroen C5 Aircross will make its Indian debut on February 1, 2021. The premium mid-size SUV will arrive as a CKD unit here with the local assembly being done at the Thiruvallur manufacturing unit in Tamil Nadu. The launch is slated for March 2021, it will rival the likes of Skoda Karoq, Hyundai Tucson and upcoming Jeep Compass Facelift. As it is a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) unit, expect the pricing to start from Rs 24 lakh (ex-showroom).

Citroen C5 Aircross design will be like a crossover with the silhouette quite distinctive from its rivals in the country. Talking about the design more in detail, the front split grille is surrounded by LED DRL’s and dual-beam headlamps. At the rear, it will boast of an upright tailgate with split LED tail lamps. The premium look is enhanced with the addition of red accents on the exterior. Overall, the SUV’s design is quite rounded but something different from its rivals in the domestic market.

Moving on to the interior, the design is quite something different to look forward to. The split design theme can be observed on the split AC vents which is something new for the Indian consumers. Expect the SUV to come loaded with features like 8-inch infotaintment system with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 12.3-inch fully-digital instrument cluster and dual-zone climate control. Panoramic Sunroof and wireless smartphone charging are also expected in the upcoming SUV. The Euro-spec model comes with heating and massaging functionality but we have to wait and watch if it makes to the Indian version of the C5.

Talking about the performance, Citroen C5 Aircross will be sold with a single diesel engine option. The diesel powertrain is expected to belt out 177 bhp of power output and 400Nm of peak torque. The SUV will come with both manual and automatic gearboxes. Post C5, the manufacturer plans to discontinue diesel engines for their made-in-India cars.
