Citroen has taken wraps off the next-gen C4 and EC4 crossover in the international market. It had unveiled both the C4 models sometime ago. But now the French carmaker has revealed details about the models including their engine specifications. It is yet not confirmed whether the models will be made available in the Indian market. Both the C4 models are longer than 4 metres. If in case Citroen plans to launch them in India, then they will be put in a higher taxation bracket. The two C4 models are likely to go on sale later this year in the international market with the deliveries slated to commence by the end of 2020. 

In terms of design, the front fascia of both the C4 models features V-shaped signature LED headlamps with LED DRLs, horizontal twin-slat grille with the Citroen logo, and fog lamp housing. The rear end of the hatchbacks looks aggressive due to the V-shaped tail lights.  

Citroen revealed the feature list

The interiors of both the C4 models sport a variety of modern features. These include a 10-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with connected tech features, a frameless HD digital instrument panel, an 8-speaker music system, and a color head-up display. The hatchbacks also offer heated front and rear seats. Other key highlights include a wireless phone charging pad, panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control system, and split AC vents. Apart from this, Citroen has also introduced Smart pad support on the dashboard that can be used as a holder for your tablet. 

In terms of safety equipment, Citroen has equipped both C4 and EC4 with up to 20 different driver assistance features. These include highway driver assist, a level 2 semi-autonomous driving system, active safety brake, adaptive cruise control, collision risk alert system, active lane departure warning system, coffee break alert, reversing camera with 360-degree vision, intelligent beam headlights, and blind-spot monitoring system. The hatchbacks also get Citroen’s Advanced Comfort program which consists of suspension with progressive hydraulic cushioning and Citroen’s comfort seats. Apart from this, the standard equipment list comprises of airbags and ABS with EBD. 

The main highlight of the next-gen C4 is its powertrain options. The new C4 is available with two engines. A 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that is offered in three states of tune which is 100 bhp, 130 bhp & 155 bhp. While the 1.5-litre diesel engine is provided in 110 bhp and 130 bhp state of tune. All the variants will come in front-wheel-drive. The petrol and diesel engines of the low-end variants will be linked a 6-speed manual gearbox. While in the case of high-end trims, both the petrol and diesel engines will be mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. 

Talking about the all-electric EC4, then it will draw power from a 50 kW electric motor that produces 136 bhp power and 260 Nm torque. It offers a driving range of up to 350 kms on a single charge. In terms of performance, E-C4 can reach from 0-100 kmph in 9.7 secs in sports mode having a top speed of 150 kmph.
