Royal Enfield Bullet 350

Royal Enfield Bullet 350 is the bike from where the retro bike maker’s Indian product line-up starts. With a starting price of Rs. 1.17 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi), Bullet is favoured by many for its old world retro charm. However, the recent safety rules mean that the line-up had to be upgraded with Anti-Lock Braking System. Now as the company has already done the same, the prices for Bullet 350 ABS and the 350 ES ABS are out, reports on internet claim that the new Bullet 350 ABS comes at a price of Rs. 1.21 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) and the electric start model of Bullet 350 ES ABS costs Rs. 1.35 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Although the company has yet to officially reveal the prices of these updated entry-level Royal Enfield bikes.

As already mentioned, the new safety rules mandated braking system update in all the bikes in the country. While the bikes below 125cc will come with CBS, the bikes with larger engine displacements will have to feature ABS as standard. This has forced Royal Enfield to update its entire model line-up in India with ABS. Nearly all other bikes in the retro bike maker’s portfolio will come with dual channel ABS as standard, the entry level Bullet 350 and 350 ES will only come with a single channel ABS unit. As is pretty evident from the name itself, dual channel ABS has sensors on both the wheels that control the braking of the bike on front and rear wheel. However, single channel ABS unit only comes with a sensor on one of the bike’s wheels, which is generally the front wheel.

The same is the case with Bullet 350 model line-up as well, both the variants of the bike comes with ABS unit fitted on the front wheel. In the Bullet 350 there is a disc brake on the front wheel while the rear has a drum unit. The drum brake on the rear of Bullet 350 comes with a speed sensor that actuates the ABS sensor on the front wheel according to the speed of the rear wheel. The Bullet 350 ES has been equipped with a disc brake on both tyres with the front unit being ABS equipped.

Talking about the mechanical aspect of Royal Enfield Bullet 350 and 350 ES, the two bikes come with a 346-cc single cylinder engine rated to deliver around 19.8 Bhp and 28Nm. The engine is paired with a 5 speed gearbox. Although the presence of ABS as standard hikes the prices of the entry-level retro bikes by a few thousand, this small amount will go a long way in making the ride safer for the prospective owner of the bike.
