BS6 MG Hector Launched at Rs 12.74 Lakhs in India

MG Motor has finally launched the keenly-awaited BS6 compliant Hector SUV at a starting price of Rs 12.74 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom, India). Though, the SAIC Motors owned British brand has updated only the petrol engine with BS6 for the time being while the diesel engine is expected to be updated before April 2020 prior to the Emission Norms deadline. MG Hector BS6 price goes as high as Rs 17.44 Lakhs for the range-topping Sharp variant.

The MG Hector BS6 models have witnessed a hike in price by Rs 26,000 as compared to their BS4 counterparts. The SUV with BS6 engine is left untouched as far as cosmetic changes are concerned while the features too have been retained from the BS4 model. The Hector has become the second model in the segment to come with BS6 compliant engine as Kia Seltos was introduced with BS6 petrol and diesel engines right from its launch in August last year. The other contenders in the segment such as Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, Nissan Kicks and Renault Captur are yet to get the updated BS6 certified engines.

Despite the update of BS6, MG Hector's 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine continues to develop the same amount of power output. Its performance figures state that the SUV produces 143 Bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. The engine is offered with a 6-speed manual and a DCT automatic gearbox as standard. Though, a 48V mild-hybrid system is exclusively available with the manual transmission.
