Mahindra & Mahindra has been working on the BS6 versions of the XUV500 and Scorpio for the past few months. Now, the company has silently updated the official website of both the Scorpio and XUV500 with new details. The production has been temporarily suspended across the country due to the 21 day lockdown because of the Coronavirus outbreak. The BS6 Mahindra XUV500 price is expected to be announced after the lockdown period is over on April 14, 2020. Similarly, BS6 Mahindra Scorpio price would be announced at a later stage.
The BS6 Mahindra XUV500 will be available only in four grades: W5, W7, W9 and W11(O). All the variants will be offered with an auto gearbox, except the entry-level W5 trim. The all-wheel-drive system has been discontinued from the SUV's line-up. In fact, the base W3 variant has also been phased out. Almost identically, the BS6 Mahindra Scorpio will come in four trim levels: S5, S7, S9 and S11. The S3 variant, powered by the 2.5L engine, has been discontinued from the SUV range. The exterior styling is expected to be the same as the ongoing BS4 models while the cabin and features are also expected to be carried over from the current BS4 models of XUV500 and Scorpio.
Mechanically, the BS6 XUV500 will be powered by the same 2.2L 4-cylinder diesel engine with top power of 153bhp at 3750rpm and peak torque of 360Nm between 1750-2800rpm. It can be availed with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission with power transmitted to the front wheels. On the other hand, the BS6 Scorpio too draws power from the same 2.2L 4-cylinder diesel engine which generates maximum power output of 140bhp at 3750rpm and highest torque performance of 320Nm between 1500-2800rpm. The base S5 variant is offered with a 5-speed manual unit while the remaining three variants are available with a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard. The Mahindra duo will go on sale in the next couple of weeks in India.
