BS6 Kawasaki Z900 will retain design and body frame of its BS4 counterpart along with a few cosmetic upgrades

Kawasaki is all set to launch the BS6 version of the Z900 in the mid-week of September this year. The BS6 model was infact unveiled during EICMA 2019. This particular bike is one of the Japanese manufacturer’s most popular motorcycle in the country. As for the price, the company had issued a press release last year in December stating that the BS6 Kawasaki Z900 will fall in the price bracket of Rs 8.5 lakhs - Rs 9 lakhs (ex-showroom).

That said, BS6 Z900 will retain the design, body frame, and suspension of the 2019 model. However, the bike will receive a few updates. Upfront, it will get LED headlamps. The motorcycle will ride on new Dunlop Sportmax Roadsport 2 tyres. Other notable features will include a bluetooth compatible TFT display, traction control, four riding modes, and two power modes.

The BS6 compliant Kawasaki Z900 will draw its power from a 948cc four-cylinder motor. This particular engine will produce 125 bhp power and 98.6 Nm torque which is the same performance which could be got from its BS counter part. The performance figures stated here are the highest in the middle-weight, sports-naked segment.

Furthermore, Kawasaki had launched the Z900 Special Edition in February this year. The bike was brought in India in limited numbers and it was priced at Rs 7.99 lakhs (ex-showroom). This Special Edition was Rs 30,000 costlier than the BS4 model. The company claims that Z900 Special Edition was a BS4 motorcycle but at the same time was similar to the 2020 Z900. This means that the company could have upgraded the Special Edition to meet the BS6 Emission Norms but due to certain reasons they are only homologated it to the BS4 specification.
