Keeping with the trend of launches in the Indian motorcycle market, Kawasaki Motorcycles today launched the Ninja 1000SX. Priced at Rs 10.79 lakhs (ex-showroom), India the updated model will comply with the new stringent BS6 vehicle norms. The BS6 Ninja 1000SX is coming with a range of new exciting features. These include a single side exhaust, unlike the outgoing BS4 model which had dual side exhausts. The litre-class sports tourer caters to a full-LED light, revamped bodywork and belly pan.

New Ninja 1000SX sits on an aluminium twin-tube frame. It is being offered with a new windscreen for windblast protection for the long-range riders. There are host of new electronic upgrades. These comprise of 4 riding modes (Sports, Rider, Road, Rain), Electronic Cruise Control, KIBS (Kawasaki Intelligent anti-lock Brake System), 3-step traction system, electronic throttle valves among others. Plus the motorcycle comes equipped with a 4.3-inch fully-digital colour TFT instrument cluster, Smartphone Connectivity with Kawasaki’s Rideology mobile app and Bridgestone’s BATTLAX HYPERSPORT S22 tyres. If we talk about the performance, the new updated two-wheeler is powered by a BS6-compliant 1,043cc liquid-cooled in-line four-cylinder engine. The BS6 engine now delivers 140bhp @ 10,000rpm and 111Nm of peak torque @ 8,000rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox.

Ninja 1000sx


Dimension wise, this motorcycle measures 2,100mm in length, while overall width and height stand at 825mm and 1,190mm, respectively. The bike's wheelbase measures 1,440mm while the ground clearance stands at 135mm. The motorcycle comes with a 19-litre fuel tank which is pretty handy for riders who love to travel long distances. Its suspension comprises of USD forks up front and a gas-charged mono-shock towards the rear. There are 300mm dual semi-coating discs in the front with dual 4-piston callipers and a single 250mm disc at the rear with a single-piston calliper. The new BS6 Kawasaki Ninja 1000 SX is Rs 50,000 more expensive than the out going BS4 version.
