BS6 Hero Extreme 200S launch is coming closer as the manufacturer has listed the bike on its official website. The model was discontinued in the Indian market following the introduction of BS6 vehicle emission norms. In 2019, Hero MotoCorp had introduced Xtreme 200S, Xpulse 200 and Xpulse 200T in the country. Now with the teaser image of Hero Xtreme 200S on the official website, expectations are rife of the launch either during Diwali or before the end of the year. Hero Xtreme 200S has not been that successful unlike its sibling Xpulse 200 in India. The BS6 update plus few cosmetic tweaks might give the Xtreme 200S a new lease of life in the motorcycle segment. Thus the BS6 Xtreme 200S would be retailed at a premium in comparison to the BS4 model which was priced at Rs 98,500 (ex-showroom), Delhi. Its expected price could be in the range of Rs 1.07 lakh - 1.08 lakh (ex-showroom), Delhi.
According to its design, the new model will not be that different in relation to its predecessor except for a new colour scheme. The upcoming Hero Extreme 200S motorcycle will come with features like a fully-LED headlight & taillight, full-digital LCD instrument cluster with Bluetooth, raised handlebars, black windscreen among others. Some of the other standard fitments made available with the bike will be a gear position indicator, service reminder alert, a trip meter, incoming call alerts and so on.
Updated Xtreme 200S is a fully-faired sibling of Xtreme 200R naked streetfighter that was launched in the country last year. This new BS6 model will come equipped with the same engine that currently powers the BS6 Hero Xpulse. Thus the Hero Xtreme 200S will be powered by a 200cc air-cooled engine. The powertrain will be capable of churning out 18 bhp power output @8,000 rpm and 17.1 Nm of peak torque @6,500 rpm. The engine will be mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Presence of telescopic forks up front and seven-step adjustable monoshock towards the rear will take care of the suspension duties. While braking responsibilities will be held by a 276mm disc in the front and a 220mm at the rear. Single-channel ABS will also be offered as standard on the bike.
