BMW Motorrad India has launched the R 18 cruiser at a starting price of Rs 18.90 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom) in the country. Being sold as a completely built-up unit (CBU), it can be ordered from today at the company's authorized dealerships. As far as suspension setup is concerned, the cruiser boasts of a double loop steel tube frame. The duties are handled by a telescopic fork and a directly mounted central suspension strut with travel-dependent damping and adjustable spring preload upfront while there is a swing arm at the rear. The braking system consists of a twin disc brake at the front and a single disc brake at the rear. BMW R18 is offered with three standard riding modes – Rain, Roll and Rock. Some of the key safety features include Automatic Stability Control, Dynamic Engine Brake Control, BMW Motorrad Integral ABS, Hill Start Control, Dynamic Brake Light Signals and Keyless Ride system. BMW has tied up with Roland Sands Design to offer the buyers two different design collections of milled aluminium parts – Machined and 2-Tone-Black.

The 1802cc engine churns out a top power of 91bhp at 4750rpm and peak torque of 158Nm at 3000rpm. The engine is linked to a constant mesh 6-speed transmission while a reverse gear is available as an optional extra. There is an anti-hopping single-disc dry clutch as standard. The German brand has joined hands with Mustang Seats to provide high-quality handmade seats for the cruiser. Furthermore, it has collaborated with Vance & Hines to offer a custom exhaust system finished either in chrome or with a scratch-resistant black ceramic coating. Roadside Assistance with 24x7 365 days package is also available in case of breakdown and towing situations.
