BMW M5 Competition comes with subtle cosmetic updates and feature upgrades

BMW has launched the new M5 Competition at Rs 1.62 crores (ex-showroom) in the country. The power-packed sedan comes with a number of updates and revisions over the previous model. It will be available as a completely built-up unit (CBU). Interested buyers can get it booked online at shop.bmw.in. Customers who purchase the BMW M5 Competition will gain exclusive membership to the ‘BMW Excellence Club’ where they will be offered programs such as bespoke travel, grandstand, highlife, and other BMW privileges. 


In terms of design, the BMW M5 Competition features a BMW kidney grille with a high-gloss black finish and BMW’s laser headlamps integrated with twin L-shaped LED DRLs. On the side, it gets new 20-inch M-light alloy wheels. The rear end boasts of new 3D LED tail lights, black inserts on the bumper, black chrome tailpipes, and gloss black spoiler. The performance sedan further features a black M5 Competition badging. Besides these, the M-specific double bars, mirror caps, and the mesh on the M-gills, all get a High-Gloss Black finish. 


The cabin of the new M5 Competition can be customized with three leather upholstery options - Silverstone, Aragon Brown, and Black. Full leather Merino upholstery in Black or Midrand Beige comes as an exclusive range option. The sedan features a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay & Android Auto, a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster, and wireless charging. Furthermore, the M5 Competition comes equipped with M-multifunction seats with the illuminated M logo. Other feature highlights include electrically adjustable seats with memory function and seat heating, four-zone climate control, automatic tailgate, ambient lighting, a rear-seat entertainment system, and CERP sunroof among many others.

Performance-wise, the M5 Competition is powered by a 4.4-litre, twin-turbo V8 engine with M Twin Power Turbo technology that churns out a maximum power output of 616 bhp and a peak torque of 750 Nm. The motor is linked to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. The model can further sprint from 0-100 kmph in just 3.3 seconds. 


Moving on, the sedan also features adaptive M-specific Suspension, an M-mode selector, head-up display, an M-Sport exhaust system, an M-high performance compound, and BMW Live Cockpit Professional with BMW Operating System 7.0 including 3D Navigation. The safety kit comprises six airbags, parking assistant plus with a surround-view camera, attentiveness assistance, reversing assistant, Electronic Differential Lock Control (EDLC), ABS with brake assist, Cornering Brake Control (CBC), electronic vehicle immobilizer and crash sensors, electric parking brake with auto hold, side-impact protection, and Isofix child seat mounts.
